source code of a web page that needs to be optimized against to Off-Page SEO
which refers to links and other external signals towards the website.
The On-Page SEO has drastically changed over the years and it always suggested to implement the new and latest practices while optimizing the web pages to avoid negative impact on the ranking.
On-Page SEO Best Practices:
You might have already aware of optimizing the web pages
through meta tags and adding the relevant keyword to maintain the density of
the keywords across the web page. I’m going to share a couple of points
extracted from the 2018 update from Google. However, I always suggested to
implement a couple of these points in your next article and assess the ranking
in order to implement for other pages.
1. Use SEO Friendly URLs for your posts: Google has
announced that the it will consider first 3-5 words in a URL are given more weight
than considering the longer URL to decide the weight. Also, various SEO studies
have confirmed that the short URLs are most popular than the long URLs in the
search ecosystem. So, it is suggested to have a shorten URL for your post
instead of long URLs.
2. Start the Title with your Keyword: The title tag is a
most crucial part of On-Page SEO and it is always important start your title
with the keyword to get more traffic. This practice will create more weight in
search engines and get huge traffic in short time.
3. Adding Modifiers to the Titles: Modifiers are like Best,
Guide, Checklist, Review and 2018 can help your article rank on long tail versions
of the targeted keyword.
4. Use H1 Tag for Your Blog Post: It is important to add
headline tag (H1 Tag) for all your titles to help the search engine crawlers to
crawl the content and other sections of the article. Most of Content Management
Systems (CMS) like Blogger and WordPress are automatically add the H1 tags to
the blog post titles. However, it is suggested to check and have this
implemented properly to indexed in a correct way.
5. Use the Attractive Multimedia in the Articles: Text can
only drive your content to get huge traffic. However, using the attractive
images, relevant videos and charts can reduce the bounce rate and increase time
spent on your website as these are two critical factors that decides the page
ranking.
6. Use H2 Tags for Subheadings: Using the H2 tags for all
the subheading and try to include the targeted keyword at least once in the
subheadings will increases the visibility on search engines. A few SEO studies
have found that using the keywords in subheadings definitely create some change
in the ranking, however, it is up to the authors to use the keywords optimally
in the articles to avoid any negative impact.
7. Include the Keywords in First 100 Words: Adding the
targeted keywords in first 100 words will help the search engine crawlers to understand
about the article instead of adding huge content on top of the page without a
targeted keyword.
8. Implement the Responsive Design: It is a mandatory to
have a responsive design implemented to your website. Most of the search
engines including Google started penalizing the websites if it is not mobile
friendly.
9. Create Outbound Links: It is suggested to credit other website
where you have referred content while writing the post. This will create search
engine crawlers to understand about the topic, also Google decides the page
quality based the links to other websites.
10. Use LSI Keywords: LSI keywords help the Google display
your content when the user is searching the content using the similar keywords.
This practice increases the search visibility as and when users search the
content relevant to your keywords.
11. Use Alt Text for Images: Ensure that you are adding the
Alt Text for all the images to help the search engine crawlers to recognize the
type of article.
12. Add Social Media Sharing Buttons: Adding social media sharing buttons on website won’t help to increase the ranking, however, this will create a huge impact as and when users share your content on the social media platforms.
